'Fred and Ginger is what the soul and heart of The Fringe Festival is all about: small, unusual acts that find fertile soil inside and set down their fragile roots, from which great things grow.'

Marquez' current creative endeavor Fred & Ginger is coming along nicely. But shit can go wrong.
What one must do is turn the panic attack down a notch and into an opportunity - a creative challenge can open up a host of new ideas and possibilities. Although we're extremely happy for Naomi Livingstone landing a lead role in The Crucible this equally sucks since we had already invested a great deal in engaging the media as well as submitting the creative concept for the Sydney Fringe Festival print program, blah blah. Now we have a poster image of Naomi's face but no Naomi. Fuck. What to do? what to do?! Sans Naomi. While she can never be replaced there are some exciting ideas floating around to bring her back alive (Frankenstein style) such as mask work, puppetry, projection. All is not lost. Phew.
Although all this faffing around has set us back a tad we still have 2 months to create this monster freak show universe. We are currently rehearsing (I use this term loosely) and researching and digging for a potential narrative. The concept for the work started with the Twins photo taken by Diane Arbus and it's taken us on a soul searching ride. We've found that the photo's twin freakishness has roused intrigue and inspired the idea of telling a story around soul mateship. There's this notion that if you're a twin that you're already complete (or want to be free from), or if you don't have a twin soul you are missing something in your life. The exploration continues!
We love working with the talented Keyna Wilkins. A genius musical improviser. A gem. In awe of her ability to create original music and affect a scene or character's temperature so effortlessly (I am sure it's hard work deep down inside!). On this note, stay tuned for more updates, like us, follow us. Don't panic.
